2019 NBA Free Agency Predictions (Plus Anthony Davis Landing Spot Via Trade)

Now that we find ourselves in the NBA finals watching the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors battling it out for the NBA championship means two things. One, we will be getting to watch high-level basketball for the next two and a half weeks. The second thing is that the NBA offseason is right around the corner. We finally get the answers to all of our questions regarding free agency and we get to see who ends up where. Today, I will give my best guess on where I see everyone winding up for the 2019-20 NBA season.

Kevin Durant

Ever since KD joined the Warriors in 2016 he has bashed with criticism and hate. Kevin Durant I believe has had enough of this and he will look to be the savior of a franchise where he can be labeled as "the man". Durant leaves the Warriors this summer to head to New York in a move that has felt like it's going to happen all season long kind of like LeBron to the Lakers last season.

Prediction: Durant signs with the New York Knicks

Anthony Davis

ree

One thing has been made pretty clear since Anthony Davis requested a trade in late January. The Pelicans will not do business with the Lakers. Since Davis will not be in Los Angeles to start next season, I believe there is only one other possible landing spot that makes sense for the Pelicans.

The Pelicans are about to draft Zion Williamson and they must get it right to avoid another Anthony Davis situation in the next 7 years. So why not pair him with his former Duke teammate in R.J. Barrett who seems likely to be drafted by the New York Knicks at #3 Overall on June 20th at the NBA Draft. The Pels also get to send Davis out east and do not have to worry about him for the foreseeable future.

Prediction: Davis is traded to the New York Knicks in a deal centred around a package of R.J. Barrett.

Kyrie Irving

ree

Kyrie Irving is one of the hardest players to predict. I believe he is for sure leaving Boston and there are three possible new destinations; The Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets.

At the All Star break it seemed like a foregone conclusion that Irving was headed to the Knicks with Durant, but recently we have heard less and less about that scenario and the talk has switched to him possibly pairing back up with LeBron James on the Lakers or actually going to the state of New York, but playing to play for the Nets.

I personally believe that Irving will not be playing with LeBron or Durant next season and he will be playing for the Brooklyn Nets. Kyrie grew up in the area and was a Nets fan as a kid, which makes this seem like a chance to live out his childhood dream.

Prediction: Kyrie Irving Signs With the Brooklyn Nets

Kawhi Leonard

ree

In these playoffs, Kawhi Leonard has officially put himself in the race for the best player on the planet. Leonard has put the world on notice and will have everyone lobbying up for his services next season. But, I do believe the Kawhi sweepstakes are down to two teams; The Toronto Raptors and Los Angeles Clippers.

This will be the toughest decision of his career. Does he stay in a place where he has become a certified legend or does he believe it's time to return home? Honestly, I believe Kawhi will not know until after these Finals. Which means I have a prediction for the scenario the Raptors win or lose.

Prediction: If Raptors Win (Or Lose In 7): Kawhi Stays In Toronto

If Raptors Lose: Kawhi Signs With The Clippers

Other Notable Signings:

Klay Thompson: Resigns With The Warriors on a 5-year max deal.

Kemba Walker: The Hornets don't offer Kemba the supertax, which leads to him going home and takes Kyrie's place on the Knicks super-team.

Jimmy Butler: Butler surprises some people and joins LeBron on the Lakers.

Tobias Harris: With Butler Leaving, the 76ers can't offered to lose Harris aswell and they sign him to 4-year max contract.

Khris Middleton: Middleton resigns with the Bucks on a 2-year deal.

D'Angelo Russell: With Irving going to Brooklyn, D'Angelo leaves and signs with the Phoenix Suns on a 4-year max deal the Nets decide not to match.

Kristaps Porzingis- Porzingis signs his 1-year qualifying offer with the Mavericks to bet on himself so he can become a UFA in 2020.

Nikola Vucevic- Vucevic returns to California where he played his college ball and signs with an up and coming Kings team on a 4-year max deal.

Demarcus Cousins- Cousins is a hard player to predict, but I believe he ends up signing a 2-year deal with the Clippers or resigning with the Warriors on a 1-year deal.

Julius Randle- Randle signs a 1-year deal worth $22 million to resign with the Pelicans.

JJ Redick- The 76ers need to keep all the shooting they can so Redick resigns with the team.

DeAndre Jordan- Part of the reason I believe KD would go to the Knicks is because one of his best friends in DeAndre Jordan plays there. Jordan resigns with the Knicks on a 1-year 7 million dollar deal.

Derrick Rose- Rose had a great comeback season this year and he has earned money and term on his next contract. D-Rose signs with the Pacers on a 3-year deal.
