At 20/1 Odds, Patriots Rookie TreVeyon Henderson Is a Great Value Bet For Offensive Rookie Of The Year

This year's NFL draft had some drama, with the big storyline being the draft slide of Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. However, while a lot of the attention was on the Sanders story, some draft picks did fly a bit under the radar. One of those picks, at least to me, was the New England Patriots taking Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson early in the second round. Henderson is one of the latest additions to a New England offense that should be much improved in 2025 under a revamped coaching staff, improved offensive line, and quarterback Drake Maye entering year two.

Of course, it is a bit early to be predicting award winners, but I don't think it is crazy to say Henderson could be a dark horse pick to be the league's offensive rookie of the year in 2025 on what should be a much better Patriots team.

At Ohio State, Henderson showed he was one of the better dual-threat running backs in the country while being in a split backfield with fellow second round pick Quinshon Judkins who was selected by the Cleveland Browns two picks before Henderson at 36th overall.

In his final year at Ohio State, Henderson ran for 1,016 yards and ten touchdowns while also catching 27 passes and one touchdown, which was the turning point in the national semifinal game against Texas, where, just before the half, Henderson took a screen 75 yards to the house, and the Buckeyes never looked back.

His ability as a pass catcher I think will be very much utilized in this New England offense because the McDaniels offense very much likes to get the ball out quickly to running backs in the screen game and Henderson's ability to be a runner and pass-catcher I believe will lead to him being the Patriots number one back ahead of Rhamondre Stevenson.

The Patriots might rely on him early to take some pressure of Drake Maye and help establish the physical culture that Mike Vrabel wants his team to be known for if he can get off to a good start this season.

Yes, I do know that is a talented rookie class on the offensive side of the ball, especially at the running back position with players like Ashton Jeanty and Omarion Hampton, who went in the first round, but this post isn't about my actual prediction; we are just looking for great value in the betting market.

If Henderson is as involved in the Patriots offense as I expect and New England gets in the playoff race or somehow finds a way in, I think Henderson will be a key contributor to that. With his current at +2000, I think this is a great bet, and it is one that catches my eye.
