My Most Anticipated Movies of 2026

This is not something I really write about as much anymore, but with 2025 coming to an end, I wanted to talk about one of my other favourite passions outside of sports... Which is movies. Going into next year, there is a wide range of movies I am really looking forward to. Thriller, superhero, comedy, drama, it is all over the place.

I am pretty easy to get to like a movie, so there is not going to be a ton of in-depth analysis here. These are simply some of my most anticipated movies heading into next year and why I am excited for them.

How To Make A Killing (February 20th)

This is supposed to be a thriller mixed with comedy. I really like Glen Powell as an actor. I think he is extremely charismatic.

Seeing him in a comedic thriller, I think, is somewhere he could thrive. Not that this movie is going to be a straight comedy, but I like that it is supposed to have more of an edge to it.

It is also an A24 movie. A24 usually does a really good job with their films, so that alone makes this something I am very interested in watching.

The Drama (April 3rd)

Starring Robert Pattinson and Zendaya. Another romance movie, and I will probably be watching this one by myself, but those two are among my favourite actors working today.

Robert Pattinson in particular has really become one of my favourite actors over the years. Seeing him in what I would consider a lower-scale role compared to some of the bigger projects he has done recently is something I am really excited for.

Michael (April 24th)

The Michael Jackson biopic is another movie I cannot wait to see. It stars his nephew Jafar Jackson playing him, and the trailer looks insane.

I am really interested to see what aspects of Michael’s life they choose to focus on and what they decide to bypass. This movie has the potential to be the biggest biopic ever at the box office, and it probably should be. Michael Jackson was popular for a reason.

I do expect this movie to do extremely well financially. I am a little worried about what they will and will not cover, but overall I am really excited for it.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 (May 1st)

I only saw "The Devil Wears Prada" for the first time last year, and I enjoyed it for the most part. Did I think it was amazing? No, but it was a really fun watch.

Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep are both back for the sequel, which comes out in May. I think it will be a great way to kick off the summer movie season and should be a really fun time at the theatre.

Disclosure Day (June 12th)

Steven Spielberg’s newest movie starring Emily Blunt. I saw the trailer for this when I went to see Marty Supreme a few days ago, and it immediately caught my attention.

It looks like more of a mystery centred around something happening in a specific town. I have only seen the trailer, but it looks really interesting, and it is a Spielberg movie. I will absolutely be there to watch this.

Toy Story 5 (June 19th)

Getting into the summer, this one might surprise some people.

I grew up loving the Toy Story movies, and I am going back to see this. I do not care. If it were up to me, the franchise would have ended after Toy Story 3, which was a perfect ending.

But if you keep making movies that connect me to my childhood and what I grew up watching, I am going to show up. So yes, I will be watching this.

The Odyssey (July 17th)

One of my most anticipated movies of the entire year is Christopher Nolan’s new film, The Odyssey. The cast alone is unreal.

Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Benny Safdie, and Jon Bernthal. This cast is stacked.

You know how seriously Nolan takes his projects. This is his first movie since Oppenheimer, and based on his track record, I think this has the potential to be the biggest cinematic event of the year. For a lot of people, especially cinephiles, this could easily end up being their favourite movie of the year.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day (July 31st)

Call me naive. Call me whatever you want. I do not really care.

Spider-Man is one of my top two favourite comic book characters of all time, and he has a new movie coming out this year. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be our first Spider-Man movie since No Way Home.

Tom Holland is back in the role, and where we left off, Peter Parker is finally closer to the comic-accurate version of the character. He is alone, broke, and living in New York.

The synopsis makes it sound like this movie will focus on Peter dealing with the consequences of No Way Home, with everyone forgetting who he is. This feels like a reset for this version of the character, and I cannot wait.

Honestly, this is my most anticipated movie of the year. I love Spider-Man. I love Tom Holland in the role. This is the movie I am most excited for.

I am also making a promise to my friends. I will not talk about this one endlessly like I did with No Way Home. I know I was annoying. That had a lot to do with personal stuff at the time and not having much to look forward to. I am promising myself to do better this time.

The Social Reckoning (September 25th)

Next up is The Social Reckoning, which is essentially The Social Network 2. It will not have the same cast, like Jesse Eisenberg or Andrew Garfield, but it is supposedly a direct sequel.

I do not know much about the movie, but The Social Network is one of my favourite movies of all time. I do not think it needed a sequel, but you have my attention.

Focker In-Law (November 25th)

Another movie coming out next year that I cannot wait to see is Focker In Law. This is another sequel in the Meet the Parents franchise.

Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller are back, and I hope Owen Wilson is back as well. This is one of the better comedy trilogies from the early 2000s, especially Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers.

This movie comes out around Thanksgiving, and I already know my friends and I are going to love it.

Madden (Date TBD in November)

The John Madden movie is coming out in November, and I am really excited for it. I grew up playing the Madden video games, and I love the NFL.

Truthfully, I do not know much about John Madden outside of the video games, so I am excited to learn more about him. Christian Bale and Nicolas Cage are starring, and I cannot wait to see what they do with this.

Dune: Part Three (December 18th)

To close out the year, we get into the massive blockbusters.

I will be honest, I am not a huge fan of the Dune movies, but I cannot deny that Timothée Chalamet has become one of my favourite actors over the past few years. I understand why people love the first two movies, they are just not really my thing.

That said, Denis Villeneuve does everything on such a massive scale with this franchise, and I am excited to see how he wraps up the trilogy.

Avengers: Doomsday (December 18th)

Finally, the movie that will probably be the biggest box office hit of the year, Avengers: Doomsday. It comes out on the same day as Dune Part Three.

We do not know much about the plot yet. A lot of people have not loved what the MCU has put out since Avengers: Endgame, and I agree for the most part. Aside from Spider-Man: No Way Home, the multiverse saga has not really clicked for me.

That said, Robert Downey Jr. is back as Doctor Doom. Chris Evans is back. The X-Men are involved. There are rumours about Tobey Maguire and Hugh Jackman returning.

Is it going to be a nostalgia fest? Probably. But you are giving me what I grew up with and possibly letting me see these characters one last time.

I just hope they do it properly and make us actually connect with the story. Endgame worked because of years of buildup and character development. A lot of these characters do not have that same foundation yet.

Still, I am excited. It will be one of the most anticipated movies of the year, and as we learn more, the hype will only grow.
