The Silcoff Selections are here for January 17th, 2026. With all the action in sports tonight, here are some of my favourite plays across sports today.
NFL:
Buffalo Bills Moneyline @ Denver Broncos (-105)

I originally thought Denver could make a Super Bowl run, but that was before realizing they’d be running into Josh Allen. Bo Nix has struggled against winning teams, and Buffalo has owned this matchup recently, including a 31–7 postseason win last year. Getting Josh Allen as an underdog is something I’m always willing to take. Give me the Bills to go on the road and win.
San Francisco 49ers @ Seattle Seahawks Under 44 Points (-110)

These two teams have already met twice this season, and there have been just 46 total points combined across both games. Sam Darnold is banged up and, while he’s likely to play, that adds another layer of uncertainty offensively. Brock Purdy has historically struggled against Mike Macdonald–led defenses, and the 49ers will also be shorthanded without George Kittle. I expect another tight, defensive battle here, so give me the under 44.
NBA:
Golden State Warriors -7 vs Charlotte Hornets (-110)

Golden State has covered seven of the last ten meetings against Charlotte, and this sets up as a tough spot for the Hornets at the tail end of a California road trip. With travel fatigue likely setting in, this feels like a game where Charlotte could start looking toward getting home. Steph Curry has a history of lighting up his hometown team, and with the Warriors at home, I’ll take Golden State to win and cover the number.
NHL:
Montreal Canadiens Moneyline (+110) @ Ottawa Senators

Ottawa’s goaltending situation has been a mess since Linus Ullmark went on leave, and even on nights where they score in bunches, they’re still giving up too goals on the opposite end. Montreal, on the other hand, has been getting steadier play in net, with Samuel Montembeault expected to start once again who has played since after returning from his conditioning stint in Laval. The Habs are the more complete team right now, and I like their chances to capitalize on Ottawa’s depleted goaltending, especially on the power play. With Montreal coming off two straight losses and Ottawa riding a short win streak, this feels like a spot where the Habs go on the road and get a much-needed win.
Florida Panthers @ Washington Capitals Over 6 Goals (-110)

This matchup has consistently produced goals, with the over hitting (or pushing) in seven of the last ten meetings. Florida is expected to go with their backup goalie Daniil Tarasov after Sergei Bobrovsky gave up nine goals last night in Carolina, which only adds to the scoring upside. Washington is also getting reinforcements back, with Tom Wilson and Jakob Chychrun returning to the lineup. With two teams that like to push the pace and generate offense, I’ll take the over 6 to cash again.
Boston Bruins Moneyline (-120) @ Chicago Blackhawks

Boston has been playing strong hockey lately and has worked its way back into the playoff picture. With Jeremy Swayman back in net, I like the Bruins’ chances even more in this spot. They’ve won eight of the last ten meetings against Chicago, and I’ll take Boston to continue that trend and get the job done on the road.
