The Silcoff Selections are for Week 5 of the 2024 NFL Season! Below are my records for my straight up and against the spread picks for the season thus far.
Records Last Week:
Straight Up: 11-5
Against The Spread: 8-8
Season Records:
Straight Up: 39-25
Against The Spread: 30-30-4
Teams On Byes; Lions, Chargers, Eagles, Titans
Thursday Night Football: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1) @ Atlanta Falcons (2-2) I Line: Falcons -1.5
The Buccaneers are coming off a huge win against a depleted Eagles team on Sunday, as Baker Mayfield continues to emerge as a leading contender for the MVP award. However, this Falcons team is starting to find their groove, especially on the defensive side of the ball. On a short week, I'll take the home team, who is healthier at the moment.
Prediction: Falcons 24, Buccaneers 23
Early Sunday Slate
London Game: New York Jets (2-2) Vs Minnesota Vikings (4-0) I Line: Vikings -2.5
In our first international game of the season, I like the Vikings over the Jets in London. I mean, who doesn't want to see Sam Darnold beat his former team, adding another chapter to his career resurgence early on this season. Not to mention, Vikings' defense has been outstanding this year, and I believe they’ll disrupt the Jets' O-line and pressure Aaron Rodgers enough to get the win and move to 5-0.
Prediction: Vikings 19, Jets 17
Baltimore Ravens (2-2) @ Cincinnati Bengals (1-3) I Line: Ravens -2.5
As much as I'd like to pick the Bengals here, their defense is still horrendous. Over the last two weeks, the Ravens have started to roll, and after their dominating victory over the Bills on Sunday, it's tough for me to make a case for the Bengals based on the inconsistencies we've seen so far this year.
Prediction: Ravens 28, Bengals 24
Buffalo Bills (3-1) @ Houston Texans (3-1) I Line: Bills -1
The Stefon Diggs revenge game is definitely one of the highlights of this weekend's slate, and I expect Josh Allen and company to come in fired up after their blowout loss last week and get a win on the road. The Texans are 0-4 against the spread this season, and them only being a 1 point dog, I think that record drops to 0-5.
Prediction: Bills 24, Texans 20
Carolina Panthers (1-3) @ Chicago Bears (2-2) I Line: Bears -4
In what was supposed to be a battle between the last two number one overall picks, we now get Andy Dalton making his long-awaited return to Chicago! So far this year, the Bears' offense has struggled, but the running game showed signs of life in Week 4 against the Rams, where Caleb Williams played his best game as a pro. The Panthers have looked better with Dalton under center the last two weeks, but this will be the best defense they’ve faced yet with the Red Rifle as the starter. I’m picking the Bears to win this game at home. Side note: bet on D.J. Moore to catch a touchdown.
Prediction: Bears 21, Panthers 13
Cleveland Browns (1-3) @ Washington Commanders (3-1) I Line: Commanders -3
You could argue that no rookie quarterback has ever had a better start through four games than Jayden Daniels. He's completing 82% of his passes and has led the Commanders to an early lead in the NFC East. That being said, this Browns defense is still a force to be reckoned with, and while I don’t fully trust Deshaun Watson, he looked half-decent last week. Washington wins, but Cleveland keeps it close.
Prediction: Commanders 23, Browns 21
Indianapolis Colts (2-2) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (0-4) I Line: Jaguars -3
If the Jaguars don't get a win before heading to London next week, Doug Pederson might want to reconsider boarding the team plane or bring extra luggage in case they leave him across the Pond. Despite letting another game slip away last week, the Jags showed some fight against their division rival in Houston. I like them to pick up their first win of the season at home against a Colts team dealing with a slew of early-season injuries.
Prediction: Jaguars 21, Colts 20
Miami Dolphins (1-3) @ New England Patriots (1-3) I Line: Patriots -1
I’m gonna be honest, I’m not watching this game at all. I had this penciled in as the Drake Maye debut, but it doesn’t look like we’re getting that. Give me the home team in New England to pound the ball on the ground and be the only team to find the end zone on Sunday in what might be the worst game of the season.
Prediction: Patriots 10, Dolphins 9
Late Sunday Slate:
Arizona Cardinals (1-3) @ San Francisco 49ers (2-2) I Line: 49ers -7
After being impressed with the Cardinals in the first three games of the year, they vastly disappointed me last week against the Commanders. On the 49ers' side, despite the injuries, Brock Purdy has quietly been one of the best quarterbacks in football this year, and I expect him to continue that momentum at home against what might be the worst defense in the league.
Prediction: 49ers 28, Cardinals 23
Las Vegas Raiders (2-2) @ Denver Broncos (2-2) I Line: Broncos -2.5
After back-to-back impressive road wins, I like the Broncos to secure a home victory and finally beat the Raiders for the first time since 2019. The drama in Vegas would concern me if I thought more highly of the Raiders. With Bo Nix and the Broncos improving every week, I like him to lead the team to a third straight win.
Prediction: Broncos 22, Raiders 20
Green Bay Packers (2-2) @ Los Angeles Rams (1-3) I Line: Packers -3
Get ready, Rams, because your stadium will be filled with a lot of green on Sunday. After a struggling first half in his return from injury last week, Jordan Love started to resemble the quarterback we saw at the end of last year. I expect him and the Packers to light up the scoreboard against a Rams team that simply lacks the offensive talent, especially without Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, to keep pace with this elite Packers offense.
Prediction: Packers 30, Rams 20
New York Giants (1-3) @ Seattle Seahawks (3-1) I Line: Seahawks -6
There is no guarantee that Malik Nabers will be in the lineup for the Giants this week, and if that’s the case, I don’t see how New York will manage against this Seahawks team. Seattle should be getting some reinforcements back on the defensive line after missing key contributors on Monday in Detroit. The Seahawks will pick up the home win and move to 4-1.
Prediction: Seahawks 23, Giants 14
Sunday Night Football: Dallas Cowboys (2-2) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1) I Line: Steelers -2.5
With no Micah Parsons or DeMarcus Lawrence for Dallas, I believe the Steelers' offense will continue to improve off their impressive performance from a week ago and secure a win in primetime at home.
Prediction: Steelers 23, Cowboys 21
Monday Night Football: New Orleans Saints (2-2) @ Kansas City Chiefs (4-0) I Line: Chiefs -5.5
I really wanted to pick the Saints to win this game, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. In a low-scoring affair, I believe Mahomes will work his magic and lead a game-winning drive late, propelling the Chiefs to a 5-0 start.
Prediction: Chiefs 20, Saints 17

Bills -1
Bears -4
Browns +3
