The Silcoff Selections: Best NBA & NHL Bets For January 13, 2026

The Silcoff Selections are here for January 13th, 2026. With all the action in sports tonight, here are some of my favourite plays across sports today.

NHL:

Vancouver Canucks @ Ottawa Senators over 6 Total Goals (-125)

The over has hit in eight of the last ten meetings between these two teams, and I like it to continue tonight. Both Ottawa and Vancouver are struggling defensively right now, and neither team inspires much confidence in net. The Senators’ goaltending situation has been shaky all season, and the Canucks are turning back to Kevin Lankinen, who hasn’t been great this year. With defensive breakdowns on both sides, I think the game opens up early and the over cashes.

New York Islanders Moneyline (+105) @ Winnipeg Jets

I get that Winnipeg has bounced back with a couple of wins after that brutal 11-game losing streak, but overall, I still trust the New York Islanders more. This one sets up as a goalie duel between Ilya Sorokin and Connor Hellebuyck, but when I zoom out, the Islanders have simply been the more consistent team this season. I’ll take the steadier side here. Give me New York to go into Winnipeg and come away with the win.

Edmonton Oilers Moneyline (-120) @ Nashville Predators

I usually don’t love backing teams on the moneyline in a back-to-back spot, especially on the road, because the numbers say you’re likely to drop one. That said, I’m making an exception here. Edmonton has won eight of the last ten meetings against Nashville, and they’re simply the more talented team. With the Oilers in a tight race to stay near the top of the Pacific Division, I expect a focused effort. Give me Edmonton to go on the road, get the win.
