What Would My Dream Job In Sports Be?

For someone who has always been a Montreal Canadiens fan, one of my dreams is to eventually work for this organization.

Of course, the original plan about eighteen years ago was to lace up the skates and bring home the twenty-fifth Stanley Cup, but let's just say I have had to "slightly" change course. 

But that doesn't mean the dream is over; I've just had to go in another direction.

This September will mark four years since I started my journey in pursuing my education in the field of sports and recreation management at Vancouver Island University, and let's just say it's been quite the journey. My passion for sports has driven almost everything I have done in terms of school and work ever since I can remember, and now that I am sitting with a diploma from VIU and pursuing my degree in the field at Langara, I have started to ask myself, what is it I want to do when I am done? Well, I know one thing I think I would enjoy...

Despite how ridiculous that may sound, I would love nothing more than to make a living off my lifelong passion for hockey, sports, and the Canadiens in particular. Any opportunity to work with the Habs would be an opportunity I simply could not turn down; whether it be in writing, reporting, marketing, operations, ticket sales, or even just getting the crowd excited on game day, it's just one thing I would love to do.

In terms of pursuing things, this is where I'm running into a bit of a block. Every time I try to email HR, I get a "message not delivered" sent back within seconds. Believe it or not, I've even sent handwritten letters asking about this process. One of the reasons I am posting this is because I want to know if anyone knows how to contact the Canadiens regarding employment opportunities. Is there somewhere I should specifically be looking?

For me, the Canadiens have been more than just a team—they’ve been a constant in my life. I think it’s pretty cool that when I was at my lowest over the past few years, so were they. Now, we’re both getting better by the day, looking and feeling the best we have in years.
