After a historic game that included 302 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns on Sunday Night Football, Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley should be considered the league MVP front runner heading in the final stretch of the 2024 NFL Season.

In addition to dominating on the ground with 255 rushing yards, Barkley also demonstrated his versatility as a pass-catcher, as he also caught 4 balls for 47 yards in the Eagles 37-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams.

Barkley currently leads the league in total yards from scrimmage and is tied for second in touchdowns with Bengals receiver Ja'Marr Chase who both only trail Derrick Henry in that category. Sunday's performance was a microcosm of his season-long excellence for Barkley who is in his first season with Philadelphia. Barkley's influence on the Eagles' offense goes beyond the stats. The former No. 2 overall choice has been the driving force for the NFC East leading Eagles offense despite numerous key starters on that unit missing time due to injury this season.

Although quarterbacks Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson have dominated the discussion for the MVP award this season, Barkley's performance this year presents a strong argument for a non-QB to win the award for the first time since 2012 when Adrian Peterson took home the crown.

Barkley's name should be at the top of every MVP ballot if the Eagles continue to keep up this level of play throughout the final six games of their season and Barkley continues to have this level of production.

Next up for Barkley and the Eagles, a showdown against Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, and the Baltimore Ravens which could very well be a Super Bowl Preview.
